I love how it’s all about being low-maintenance in the summertime, especially when it comes to makeup and hair. Usually, I like to lighten things up in the summer months (both hair and makeup), but still want to look put together. As for makeup, I prefer to keep it minimal with items that add a bit of a glow without looking too heavy or shiny. Recently, I started using some new products that have been perfect for warm weather days and nights, mixed in with some old favorites. For going out at night, I still use the same products that I use during the day, but with more of a heavy hand and add some liner and shadow to my eyes. See below for my go-to summer makeup products:
It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50 — Every time I wear this base, I get compliments on how good my skin looks. The key is to use a little bit and use a beauty blender (my absolute favorite tool) to blend it all in. After moisturizer, I apply to areas where I am a little red and blotchy, so my skin looks evened out. In the past summers, I would switch to a tinted moisturizer for the summer, but this feels light on my skin and does not look like I am wearing makeup, so it works just as well and doesn’t fade as fast as a lighter product. Plus, it has tons of skin care benefits such as hyaluronic acid, peptides and niacin as well as SPF.
Beautyblender — I love this product and only started using it religiously about a year ago. For all the formulas I use here (CC cream, bronzer, cream blush) this spongy tool comes into play and helps give that no makeup look. I’m currently loving the summer.fling trio in all pops of colors.
H20+ Aquadefense Shielding Matcha Facial Essence — I love a good face mist in the summer and this one feels refreshing, containing Matcha green tea and rice bran extracts for an extra moisture boost. I spritz on my face after moisturizer and my skin feels hydrated and dewy, and I use it throughout the day when I need a little pick me up.
MAC Mineralize Concealer — I stumbled on this concealer back in the spring and love how it’s super-blendable and gives just enough coverage without being heavy. I apply it under my eyes, around my nose and to any blemishes and blend in well.
Wander Beauty On-The-Glow Bronzer and Illuminator — I wrote about this dual-sided product before as I love it for travel, but I have been using it all summer long to help me look like I have been spending quality time at the beach. The creamy bronzer is buildable and gives natural looking color while the goldeny-peach illuminator looks great on cheekbones and brow bone for a bit of a glow.
Glossier Cloud Paint — I don’t like to wear too much blush in the summer, but I still need some color as it brightens up my face. The gel-cream formula of this liquid blush (I have been using the color Dusk) is easy to blend, feels great on skin and leaves no streaky finish. I apply it to the apples of my cheeks and blend and sometimes a bit lower for some definition.
Maybelline Full N Soft Mascara — Mascara is a must no matter the season and I love this one for making lashes look full with tons of natural-looking volume while never feeling stiff or heavy even in 100-degree temps.
Glossier Boy Brow — Normally, I use a pencil to make my brows look more polished, but I recently started using this tinted gel (I bought the blonde color) and love how it gives a touch of color, adds fullness and gives precise definition in a few strokes.
Clinique Chubby Plump & Shine in Jumbo Jem — Gloss and tinted balms are my favorites in the summer months. I just bought this pinky-brown hue with a touch of shimmer, which works for both day and night and feels great on lips.
Do you switch your beauty products in the summer? I’d love to know what you do…
