I just came back from spending a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica. It was my second time to Jamaica and we stayed at an all-inclusive with my husband’s family—all 12 of us. I’m not big on all-inclusive resorts, but I get why they appeal to some travelers, especially for a large group. The kids had a blast, and the most important thing was that we made special memories together. I regret that I did not research tours and day trips from the resort before I arrived. I felt cooped up (as I always do with an all-inclusive) and was not into the touristy excursions the hotel was promoting—zip line adventure, swimming with dolphins, etc.
If you are thinking of going to Jamaica, do some research before you arrive to find some cool ways to experience this beautiful island and culture. Below are some excursions that look awesome and would have made my Jamaican experience much better:
A sunset cocktail at The Goldeneye Resort in Ochos Rios
Rum tasting at Appleton Rum Estate
A Visit to Nine Mile, Bob Marley’s birthplace and where he is buried.
