How is it already November? Both September and October flew by and now the holidays are right around the corner. For the fall season, I did little shopping to refresh my beauty arsenal (it’s all about the clothes for fall), but I decided to purchase one beauty item I’ve been eyeing for years: the beauty blender.
In all my years writing about beauty, the original beauty blender never came across my desk. I’ve tried the body blender (I don’t even wear body makeup) and copycat sponges that were just O.K. I primarily use a foundation brush to apply my two favorite makeup bases (Hourglass and Chanel), but lately found that the application looked heavy and dull. I was looking for something that would give a flawless, natural-looking application without being costly.
I finally decided to go with the pink squishy sponge that is a cult favorite. The key step is to make sure the sponge it is damp before you use it. When it’s wet, it is more bouncy and glides the makeup on the skin. I use the tip part around my nose and eyes in blotting and dabbing motions and the larger part for blending around the jawline and cheeks. It’s pretty simple and I find myself using less product than I did with my foundation brush.
It also works well with tinted moisturizer, highlighter and blush. I’ve been using the sponge for a few weeks now and I’ve been getting tons of compliments on how good my skin looked from friends (score!). Who knew a little, bright pink, sponge can make a 40 year-old so happy?
