This post has been in the works for a while now and the only good thing about delaying it is that I got to wear all these pretty berry lip colors more often than I thought. Lipstick is always a fun way to change up your look, but it has to be the right color and go with the rest of your makeup.
This season a dark, dramatic lip is in and while I am pretty boring with my lip colors (the same few are often in rotation) I always like adding a more punchy lip this time of year. Berry hues in cherry, raspberry and blackberry are my go-to this season and they look great without making me look silly or that I’m trying too hard. Plus, they bring out my hazel eyes and make me look like I have whiter teeth.
Here are some berry shades in glossy, matte and creamy textures worth trying:
Glossy & Sheer:
Smith & Cult Lip Laquer in The Queen is Dead: A flattering plum-berry gloss that looks great during the day or at night, and you can wear year round.
Lancôme Juicy Shaker Pigment Infused Bi-Phased Lip Oil in Bohemian Raspberry: I love the texture of this gloss, containig a blend of nourishing oils and pigments for a subtle wash of color that you can wear alone or layer.
Honest Beauty Truly Kissable Lip Crayon in Sheer Raspberry Kiss: Infused with coconut oil, shea butter and murmur butter, this glides on so easily leaving just the right amount of shine and sheer color. The bright pinkish-berry hue is flattering to wear year round.
NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned: This matte long-lasting lip pencil is the perfect deep berry shade that pairs well with the season’s chunky knits and velvet dresses.
Pixi by Petra Mattelustre Lipstick in Raspberry Blush: A full coverage pinkish-red berry color that is totally wearable for day or night, infused with peptides, hyaluronic acid and vitamins C and E.
Burt’s Bees in Brimming Berry: This pigmented berry is super-mositurizing with all natural ingredients —beeswax, Moringa oil, raspberry seed oil—and leaves a nice finish.
Sonia Kashuk Satin Lip Color in Fig: Nicely pigmented, this cool tone berry would look great on medium to darker skin tones.
