Today, on the news I heard that summer is half way over. It made me a little sad as I feel summer has just started. This week, I’m taking a little vacay out to the North Fork of Long Island with my family. We’re renting a friend’s house in Greenport, which was an old fishing village and has great food and shops. The bungalow-style house we’re staying at sits at the end of a block with a quiet beach overlooking leafy Shelter Island. I love watching the boats and ferry go by, and taking the boys down to the water to find minnows and crabs.
This week, I want to check out the newly renovated Chequit Inn on Shelter Island and stop at Sunset Beach for a cocktail and to watch the sunset (it really is a great spot). I can’t wait to learn how to shuck my own oysters at this little spot and stop at Lido for some cool boho chic home goods and jewelry. And, no summer day is complete without a trip to Sandpiper for the most delicious homemade black raspberry ice cream. You can find my weekend guide to the North Fork here, which has some of my favorites to do on a quick visit. Hope you are having a good July!
