Recently, I came home from getting a manicure and showed my hubby my proud digits when he told me that my hands are changing (in other words starting to look older). I was a little taken aback by his comment, but when I really gave my hands a good look over the signs were there—brown spots have started to pop up, my skin looks dull, there’s roughness and dryness around some fingers (yuck!) and my veins and other blemishes are more pronounced.
Ever since that day, I’ve been really focused on my hands and keeping them soft, hydrated and protected plus it’s hand lotion season so I’ve been slathering on the good stuff daily. Here are four ultra-moisturizing hand creams that are truly amazing and help battle the signs of aging, work to blur imperfections and keep dryness at bay without any greasiness.
Kat Burki Hand Therapy ($42) — An organic vitamin-enriched formula loaded with palm, sunflower and safflower oils as well as a proprietary herbal blend, containing calendula, chamomile, arnica, lavender and gotu kola to keep skin hydrated, soft and smooth. I love how this leaves a nice sheen on hands and feels luxurious. It’s totally worth the splurge.
Jergens BB Hand Cream ($6.99 available at Walmart, Target) — This new hand cream contains SPF 20, fades discoloration with vitamin C and citrus extracts and is loaded with humectants and vitamins to keep skin soft and smooth. It goes on silky and within two weeks of applying every day, you should see improvement in tone and texture. I like how instantly it helps to blur imperfections and redness.
Goldfaden MD Hands to Heart ($38) – This hand cream goes on light, but still feels rich and is chock-full of anti-aging ingredients such as niacinimide, glucosamine, retinol, alpha lipoic acid and COQ10 that work to reduce hyper-pigmentation, improve skin texture, plump skin and help diminish the appearance of wrinkles. I like to apply this cream at night so it really penetrates and leave hands with a youthful glow.
Eucerin Intensive Repair Hand Creme ($4.79) Packed with glycerin to keep hands soft for hours and alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate dry and rough skin, this cream really soaks in and treats parched skin in a flash. I love how this never gets too greasy and I even apply it to my feet at night for softer skin in the morning. Plus, the price can’t be beat.
