Holiday travel season has arrived and whether we are traveling home for the holidays or heading to a destination fun and warm, we all want to look and feel our best. Kate Duff and Alexi Mintz, founders of 3FlOz, the online site that sells TSA-friendly beauty products such as Klorane, Supergoop! and Marvis, stock the site (and the company’s airport vending machines) with their favorite products to keep you looking great pre- and post-flight. Here we talk to them on their must-have carry-on items, favorite airports and how to make traveling during the holidays less stressful.
1. Where are you traveling for the holidays?
Kate: I will be traveling to Chicago for Thanksgiving and then to Canada during the holidays.
Alexi: I’m heading to Nantucket for Thanksgiving and staying in New York City for Christmas.
2. What are your favorite destinations?
Kate: My favorite destinations are Sauyalita, Mexico, Maui and anywhere in the South of France.
Alexi: My favorite destinations are Colombia, Argentina and Sayulita, Mexico.
3. Do you have a favorite airport?
Kate: My favorite airport is JFK JetBlue Terminal. It has everything you could ever need to travel and amazing healthy food options.
Alexi: . JFK Terminal 5 has great food options. I also love the Minneapolis-St.Paul Airport—they just renovated the Delta terminal and it’s great. I’m a huge fan of Dunkin Donuts and JFK Terminal 8 just opened one by gate 40—it’s a game changer.
4. What beauty items do you bring with you on the plane?
Kate: As far as beauty products go I always travel with my Air Repair Rescue Balm (for my lips, hands and sometimes even on my entire face), David Kirsch Vitamins, David Kirsch protein bars and David Kirsch AM detox (to stay healthy). I also make sure I have Dr. Dennis Gross Active Vitamin D Serum (just try it and tell me you can’t live without it).
5. What about any other in-flight necessities?
Kate: I never travel without my laptop, Beats headphones, a good book, cashmere scarf and cozy socks.
Alexi: I always bring a scarf, socks, Beats headphones, David Kirsch protein bar and nuts.
6. What kind of luggage do you travel with?
Kate: I have a VERY purple carry-on bag with wheels and I am currently sporting an MZ Wallace tote.
Alexi: I travel with a carry-on rolling suitcase in orange (think it’s a Swiss Army). Luggage get’s so banged up, so I’ve never invested in it. I do have a Coach weekender bag that I use on shorter trips.
7. What is important to keep in mind when traveling during the holiday season?
Kate: It’s important to remember to be grateful. Even if you are delayed or your family is annoying, be grateful you have a family or a group of friends. The holidays can be stressful, but remembering the importance is spending time with the ones you love and not all the little details.
Alexi: Get to the airport with plenty of time to spare and try for direct flights.
